There is so much information about the meditation out there so I will not go very deep here 😉

What is meditation?
First, what isn’t meditation 🙂

Meditation isn’t something mystical and magical that only monks in the mountains are doing.
Meditation isn’t some specific state of mind which the practitioner has to achieve.
Meditation is just the way to raise the awareness by becoming aware of own thoughts, feelings and emotions.
Meditation is the way to calm oneself down, to come out from the mind and be more in the present.

With the hectic pace and demands of modern life, many people feel stressed and over-worked. It often feels like there is just not enough time in the day to get everything done. Our stress and tiredness make us unhappy, impatient and frustrated. It can even affect our health. We are often so busy we feel there is no time to stop and meditate! But meditation actually gives you more time by making your mind calmer and more focused. A simple ten or fifteen minute breathing meditation can help you to overcome your stress and find some inner peace and balance.

Meditation can also help us to understand our own mind. We can learn how to transform our mind from negative to positive, from disturbed to peaceful, from unhappy to happy. Overcoming negative minds and cultivating constructive thoughts is the purpose of the transforming meditations found in the Buddhist tradition. This is a profound spiritual practice you can enjoy throughout the day, not just while seated in meditation.

 calm-mindThe purpose of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful. If our mind is peaceful, we will be free from worries and mental discomfort, and so we will experience true happiness; but if our mind is not peaceful, we will find it very difficult to be happy, even if we are living in the very best conditions. If we train in meditation, our mind will gradually become more and more peaceful, and we will experience a purer and purer form of happiness. Eventually, we will be able to stay happy all the time, even in the most difficult circumstances.

Usually we find it difficult to control our mind. It seems as if our mind is like a balloon in the wind – blown here and there by external circumstances. If things go well, our mind is happy, but if they go badly, it immediately becomes unhappy. For example, if we get what we want, such as a new possession or a new partner, we become excited and cling to them tightly. However, since we cannot have everything we want, and since we will inevitably be separated from the friends and possessions we currently enjoy, this mental stickiness, or attachment, serves only to cause us pain. On the other hand, if we do not get what we want, or if we lose something that we like, we become despondent or irritated. For example, if we are forced to work with a colleague whom we dislike, we will probably become irritated and feel aggrieved, with the result that we will be unable to work with him or her efficiently and our time at work will become stressful and unrewarding.

Such fluctuations of mood arise because we are too closely involved in the external situation. We are like a child making a sandcastle who is excited when it is first made, but who becomes upset when it is destroyed by the incoming tide. By training in meditation, we create an inner space and clarity that enables us to control our mind regardless of the external circumstances. Gradually we develop mental equilibrium, a balanced mind that is happy all the time, rather than an unbalanced mind that oscillates between the extremes of excitement and despondency.

If we train in meditation systematically, eventually we will be able to eradicate from our mind the delusions that are the causes of all our problems and suffering. In this way, we will come to experience a permanent inner peace, known as “liberation” or “nirvana”. Then, day and night in life after life, we will experience only peace and happiness.


Little comparison how our mind works 🙂
moneky-mindThe Buddhists, they have a way of characterizing our mind. They put it this way. They say that your mind is like a crazy monkey, constantly running around, always ADD, always frantic, always searching for something new, can’t sit still.
Worse than that, it’s not just this crazy monkey but imagine this crazy monkey and that you’ve got it drunk, totally shit faced. Your mind is that, it’s a drunk, crazy monkey. Worse than that, not only is it drunk and crazy, it’s totally out of control, but imagine that monkey being stung by a scorpion. Now you have the perfect metaphor for your brain, the way that your mind runs itself, the way that it works.


My experience with meditation

I knew about meditation before but I started to meditate more often in March 2015. I did it almost for one year. At the beginning every day and later on skipping more and more days. When I started to build my own online business brand (March 2016) I totally dropped the meditation.
What did change during my first year of meditation?

  1. I was much calmer. Especially in traffic 🙂 If I had to hurry somewhere, I knew that yelling and swearing will not get me faster to my destination.
  2. I was much happier. I didn’t need to do anything special. Just walking around and noticing the beauty and life around me.
  3. Bad happenings didn’t have so big impact anymore. If something bad happened, I knew that getting upset will not help me and I have to find the positive side of it. There is always a positive side 🙂
  4. I was more focused. I noticed big increase in my concentration. I could intake more knowledge and information. At the trainings (Wing Tsun & BJJ) I was like a sponge for new information and techniques.

All those benefits were because my awareness level had increased. I noticed my thought and feelings raising so I could act consciously and not behave spontaneously.

In the summer 2016 (4 months without meditation) I noticed my mood has started to change again. This wasn’t a good change. I was more stressed, more anxious and I saw I was losing “myself”. In September 2016 I created the challenge “100 days challenge” and started to meditate daily again.
Today, writing this post, is my 45th day in that challenge and I see huge difference in my mood and life quality again. I feel motivated and focused, I feel alive and I´m happier than ever before. No more quitting the meditation for me anymore 🙂

Meditation will help you to calm your mind down so you could be less stressed, less anxious and less depressed. Meditation will help you to raise the awareness so instead of reacting you start to respond to the situations in life. Which eventually will make you much happier, focused, creative and motivated.

Meditation is for everyone who want to improve their life quality by tremendous levels. Mastering your mind will help you achieve anything in life because all the fears and doubts are created by your own mind. Master your mind and you master your life 🙂
